Mandhana Magic, India’s Firepower Await Pakistan In Asia Cup Clash

India will look to carry their dominant momentum into one of the most eagerly awaited fixtures of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 when they face arch-rivals Pakistan in their final league game in Dubai on Saturday.

Already through to the semi-finals after two emphatic victories, India enter the contest as clear favourites. The clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium begins at 8pm IST, with India hoping to use the high-profile encounter to sharpen their game ahead of the knockout stage.

The biggest reason for India’s confidence is the stunning form of Smriti Mandhana. The opener produced a spectacular 124 against Hong Kong, an innings that took her past Mithali Raj as the leading run-scorer in women’s international cricket and made her the record-holder for international centuries with 18.

Mandhana and Shafali Verma have provided India with an explosive opening combination, although the team will want greater consistency from its middle order. Pratika Rawal has yet to fully settle into the demanding No. 3 role in T20 cricket, while captain Harmanpreet Kaur and wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh will be keen to turn promising starts into substantial scores.

India’s bowling has also received a boost from young pacer Nandni Sharma, who has impressed with her ability to move the ball and has shared the new-ball duties with Kranti Gaud.

Pakistan, meanwhile, still have plenty to play for. Their victory over Thailand kept their semi-final hopes alive, but their batting remains a concern. They lost three wickets during the powerplay in that match and were eventually forced to defend a modest 119.
