Manipur CM Pushes for Reconciliation, Says Development Depends on Peace and Harmony
Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh on Saturday appealed to all communities living in the state to set aside differences and work towards peace, dialogue and communal harmony . He urged people to support the government’s efforts to restore stability and maintain a peaceful environment across the state.
Addressing a Jan Kalyan Shivir (Public Welfare Camp) at Chingamathak, Singh said that meaningful development in Manipur was not possible without lasting peace. He called upon communities to engage in dialogue and collectively work towards resolving differences for the state’s future.
“The state cannot progress without a peaceful environment,” Singh said, stressing the need for cooperation from all sections of society in the government’s peace-building initiatives.
The Chief Minister said the welfare camp was part of the government’s efforts to ensure the effective doorstep delivery of welfare schemes and public services to citizens. He linked the initiative with the broader vision of Viksit Bharat–Viksit Manipur 2047 , aimed at promoting inclusive growth and development.
Singh also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership and described him as the longest-serving elected Prime Minister of India.
Highlighting infrastructure development, the Chief Minister said railway connectivity in the state was progressing, with the rail line already reaching Khongsang and expected to extend to Imphal within two years . He added that plans were underway to expand the railway network further to Moreh in Tengnoupal district , located near the Myanmar border.
Referring to India’s regional connectivity strategy, Singh said the earlier Look East Policy had evolved into the Act East Policy , which would create new opportunities for Manipur and strengthen its role as a gateway to Southeast Asia.
He said improved connectivity, peace and cooperation among communities would be crucial for ensuring a better future for the people of Manipur.
