Hollywood superstar Matt Damon surprised Indian fans with a heartfelt confession during the Mumbai press conference for Christopher Nolan's much awaited epic The Odyssey , revealing that one dream has stayed with him for more than two decades: working with acclaimed filmmaker Shekhar Kapur .

When asked which Indian filmmaker he would most like to collaborate with, Damon did not hesitate. "The filmmaker that everybody wanted to collaborate with is Shekhar Kapur," he said, before recalling a missed opportunity that still lingers in his mind.

The Oscar winning actor revealed that he was originally offered a role in Kapur's 2002 historical epic The Four Feathers , but had to turn it down because he had already committed to a Bourne film. "I remember when I couldn't do The Four Feathers and I was really upset about that. I think I was signed up for a Bourne movie. He's always been on my list. I'd like to have another go. That's like a 20 year old debt that I've been carrying around in my pocket," Damon said, drawing applause from the audience.

The role eventually went to Heath Ledger , with the film also starring Kate Hudson , Djimon Hounsou , and Wes Bentley . Although the collaboration never materialised, Damon made it clear that his admiration for Kapur has only grown stronger over the years.

The emotional revelation quickly reached Shekhar Kapur, and the filmmaker responded with equal warmth. "I would give my right arm to work with Matt Damon," Kapur said, adding that it is perhaps finally time for the long awaited collaboration to happen. He also praised Damon's emotional depth as an actor and welcomed the possibility of working together.

The moment became one of the biggest highlights of The Odyssey promotions in Mumbai, where Damon was joined by director Christopher Nolan , co-star Tom Holland , and producer Emma Thomas . The India event marked one of the film's biggest international promotional stops ahead of its worldwide release, with Nolan thanking Indian audiences for their overwhelming support.
