MeitY Calls Abhijeet Dipke for Hearing on Blocked CJP X Account as NEET Protest Continues
Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has been asked to appear before the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) over the blocking of the party’s original X (formerly Twitter) account , even as he continues his protest at Jantar Mantar seeking the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak controversy .
MeitY has scheduled a hearing before an Inter-Ministerial Committee at Electronics Niketan on June 24, where Dipke’s appeal against the account restriction will be examined. The government’s action was carried out under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act , although the specific reason for blocking the CJP handle has not been made public.
The hearing comes as CJP’s protest at Jantar Mantar enters a crucial phase. The party has been staging a sit-in since June 20, accusing authorities of failing to ensure accountability over alleged examination irregularities. CJP has said the protest will continue until its demand for Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation is addressed.
In a bid to intensify its campaign, the party announced a symbolic “Diaper A Day Keeps Leaks Away” protest drive on Tuesday evening. Supporters were encouraged to bring diapers to the protest venue, write messages demanding the minister’s resignation on them, and submit them as part of the demonstration. CJP said the initiative was meant to highlight its allegations of repeated failures in India’s examination system.
Meanwhile, Dipke has accused Delhi Police of attempting to limit the protest by reducing the available space at the demonstration site and moving barricades. He also alleged disruptions in basic arrangements, including access to water and washroom facilities. Police have not issued a detailed response to these claims.
The agitation has attracted participation from students, exam aspirants and several student organisations, including SFI, AISA and AISF . AISF has also established a free library at the protest venue as part of its “Fight for Education with Education” campaign.
The social media dispute has added another layer to CJP’s ongoing agitation. After the original X account was blocked, the party created a new handle that reportedly gained significant followers, while its Instagram account remains accessible. Dipke has also urged UPSC and SSC aspirants to join the protest and raise broader concerns related to competitive examinations.
