State Minister for Medical and Health, Damodar Rajanarasimha, held a high-level review meeting with engineering officials from the Panchayat Raj and Roads & Buildings (R&B) departments of Sangareddy and Medak districts at his residence in Sangareddy on Thursday. The meeting focused on the ongoing development activities in the Andole Assembly Constituency, particularly the progress of road and infrastructure projects.

Road works to be accelerated

Minister Rajanarasimha instructed officials to speed up road construction and repair works being undertaken by the Panchayat Raj department in Andole constituency, which covers areas in both Sangareddy and Medak districts. Many roads were damaged due to recent heavy rains.

According to preliminary estimates from the Panchayat Raj Department, the total damage is valued at ₹147.70 crore, covering around 84.97 kilometers of road network. Considering this, the Telangana government has released ₹200 crore in special funds to restore and repair roads, construct small bridges, and improve connectivity in rural areas.

Focus on rural infrastructure

The minister also reviewed progress on various works being implemented under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), including the construction and repair of rural roads, new Anganwadi centers, and toilet blocks in government schools. He directed engineers to give priority to improving connecting roads between mandal headquarters and villages.

Anganwadi buildings in Sangareddy district

Officials informed the minister that construction of 49 Anganwadi buildings has been planned in Sangareddy district with an estimated cost of ₹3.92 crore. Out of these, 18 buildings have already been completed at a cost of ₹1.99 crore.

Progress on Garlapally - Azzamari bridge

The minister also held a separate review with R&B officials on key infrastructure projects, particularly the Garlapally-Azzamari bridge in Sangareddy district. He reviewed its current progress and emphasized the need to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining quality standards.

Officials from both the Panchayat Raj and R&B departments, including Jagadishwar and other engineers, participated in the meeting.

Cost of Anganwadi units

Under MGNREGS, the construction cost for each Anganwadi center has been fixed at ₹12 lakh, covering the building, water supply, and toilet facilities. This allocation was officially mentioned in a Parliament reply in February 2024.
