Minister Sridhar Babu Unveils Telangana’s Vision for Health Innovation

Telangana is working towards establishing itself as a leading national hub for health innovations, with the state government seeking to bring together Hyderabad’s strengths in IT, emerging technologies, pharmaceuticals, life sciences and startups with the healthcare sector, IT Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said.

Speaking after inaugurating the national conference ‘HOMA CME 2026’ at T-Hub in Hyderabad, the minister said the government was pursuing a structured approach to create a strong and integrated healthcare innovation ecosystem. The conference focused on ‘Beyond Numbers – Precision Phenotyping in Diabetes and Metabolic Care’, highlighting the growing role of technology and personalised approaches in managing metabolic disorders.

Sridhar Babu said the government was according priority to education and healthcare, while efforts were being made to connect medicine with modern technologies. The objective, he said, was to improve the quality and effectiveness of healthcare services available to the public.

The minister pointed to the rising incidence of diabetes and metabolic diseases, attributing the trend largely to changing lifestyles and dietary patterns. He said conventional medical approaches alone may not be sufficient to address the growing challenge and stressed the importance of analysing lifestyle-related data to develop more effective strategies for treatment and prevention.

He also underlined the need for early identification of chronic diseases, saying timely detection could play an important role in managing long-term health conditions. According to him, sustained research and innovation would be essential to develop new solutions for emerging healthcare challenges.

The state government, Sridhar Babu said, would extend its support to new ideas, technologies and research capable of addressing future healthcare needs. He urged doctors, researchers and institutions to work in partnership with the government to strengthen the public health system and encourage innovation.

During the event, the minister unveiled ‘The New Paradigm’, a book authored by noted physician Dr Muddu Surendra Nehru. He also launched ‘Metric Explorer’, described at the programme as the world’s first free metabolic calculator app.

The event also marked the launch of a Proof of Concept (PoC) initiative under which 50 selected patients from government hospitals will receive free protocols. The initiative is intended to support the application of innovative approaches in metabolic healthcare and contribute to Telangana’s broader efforts to build a technology-driven health innovation ecosystem.
