Telangana Labour Minister Gaddam Vivek Venkataswamy said the Congress government was committed to protecting the welfare, rights and job security of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) employees. He made the remarks in a statement posted on ‘X’ on Wednesday.

Against the backdrop of the upcoming RTC union elections, Vivek appealed to employees across Telangana to support the alliance formed by the Telangana Workers Union (TWU) and the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC). The two unions have decided to contest the elections together, with their candidates seeking votes under the ‘Arrow’ election symbol.

Vivek urged RTC employees to vote in favour of the TWU-INTUC alliance and ensure a decisive victory for its candidates. He said the Congress party machinery was working at different levels to strengthen the alliance and support its candidates. According to the Minister, the efforts were being carried out under the guidance of TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud.

The Minister said the Congress government had demonstrated its commitment to employees by addressing pending financial benefits soon after coming to power. He pointed out that two pending Dearness Allowance (DA) instalments had been sanctioned and released to RTC workers.

Vivek maintained that workers’ welfare and resolution of employee grievances remained among the government’s key priorities. He said the administration would continue working with employees and take steps to address issues affecting their working conditions, benefits and job security.

He also reiterated the alliance’s commitment to the proposed merger of the RTC with the state government. Vivek said that if the Congress-INTUC-TWU alliance emerged victorious in the union elections, the government would take immediate steps to speed up the process.

Making a special appeal to RTC employees in Mancherial and across Telangana, the Minister asked them to support the candidates backed by the alliance. He said a strong mandate would help the unions effectively represent workers’ concerns and pursue their demands with the government.

Vivek called upon RTC employees to vote for the Arrow symbol and support the alliance, stating that the Congress government would continue to work towards safeguarding their rights and welfare.
