Mirzapur-The Movie Teaser Out: Munna Bhaiya Returns With Kaleen Bhaiya and Guddu Pandit
The makers of “Mirzapur: The Movie” have dropped the much-awaited teaser, marking the franchise’s first leap from streaming to cinemas with a larger, cinematic reimagining of its brutal crime world led by Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Divyenndu.
The teaser confirms that the film will function as an interquel-style chapter set around 2018 , exploring untold events between key moments of the original series timeline. This narrative choice has sparked strong buzz, as it revisits the early power struggle era of Mirzapur with heightened scale and cinematic ambition.
The over two-minute teaser brings back the franchise’s most iconic characters Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu Pandit and Munna Tripathi while also confirming the return of Bablu Pandit , played by Jitendra Kumar, whose storyline was left unresolved for fans in the original season arc.
A major talking point of the teaser is the introduction of a new antagonist played by Ravi Kishan, who appears in a violent, high-intensity avatar, hinting at a fresh power player entering the Mirzapur underworld. His presence expands the conflict beyond the Tripathi and Pandit families.
Visually, the film pushes the franchise into a bigger cinematic zone, moving beyond Purvanchal into Rajasthan’s desert landscape , with large-scale gunfights, convoy sequences and stylised action set pieces. Trade chatter and fan reactions also point to the film being positioned as a “Bhaukaal-level spectacle” , designed for theatrical impact.
Produced by Excel Entertainment and presented by Amazon MGM Studios, the film brings back the entire ensemble including Rasika Dugal, Sheeba Chadha, Rajesh Tailang, Abhishek Banerjee, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Shekhar Gaur and Shweta Tripathi, strengthening the franchise’s interconnected narrative web.
Directed by Gurmmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna, the film is being positioned as an untold expansion of the Mirzapur universe , bridging gaps in character arcs while escalating the world’s violence, betrayal and political ambition.
“Mirzapur: The Movie” is slated for a theatrical release on September 4 in Hindi and Telugu, marking one of the most ambitious OTT-to-cinema transitions in recent Indian entertainment history.
