Modi’s YouTube channel crosses 30 million subscribers, becomes most-followed world leader

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's YouTube channel has crossed 30 million subscribers - making it the most-followed channel of any world leader on the platform. No other serving or former head of government has reached this figure, cementing his undisputed position as a top global leader YouTube rankings.

Within India, the gap is wide and telling. Modi's channel commands roughly three times more subscribers than Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and more than four times those of Indian National Congress and Aam Aadmi Party's official channels individually. Regional heavyweights like Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal, and Yogi Adityanath trail even further behind.

This milestone follows another historic achievement last month - Modi became the first world leader to surpass 100 million Instagram followers. Across X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook, his combined following runs into hundreds of millions, reinforcing his stature as world's most digitally present political leader.

Part of his global visibility stems from extraordinary international presence. Modi has undertaken more foreign visits than virtually any other sitting world leader, engaging governments across six continents - a travel record that naturally expands his international subscriber base.

India's context matters too. With the world's largest population of 1.4 billion people , even a modest percentage of engaged citizens translates into numbers no other nation's leader can easily replicate.

A YouTube subscription does not signal admiration . Users subscribe to channels to follow, monitor, or even criticise - meaning a portion of Modi's 30 million subscribers may actively tune in to disagree, fact-check, or track his statements. Subscriber count measures reach, not approval.

Analysts credit consistent content - government initiatives, foreign visit highlights, and series "Mann Ki Baat" - for sustaining audience engagement domestically and internationally alike.
