In a gesture that blended diplomacy with personal warmth, French President Emmanuel Macron posted a farewell video message in Hindi for Prime Minister Narendra Modi , describing him as a dear friend and declaring that “ France loves you ” at the conclusion of the Indian leader’s multi-city visit to France.

The video, shared on social media on Thursday, quickly drew attention for Macron’s effort to address the Indian Prime Minister in Hindi, reflecting the close rapport that has developed between the two leaders and the growing strategic partnership between India and France .

Priya mitra Narendra, mujhe bahut khushi hai aap ka Nice, Evian aur Paris daure ke liye swagat karte. France Bharat ki dosti amar rahe ,” Macron said, welcoming Modi’s visit to the French cities of Nice, Evian and Paris while expressing hope that the friendship between the two nations would remain everlasting.

After delivering the message, the French President smiled and remarked, “I hope it was correct,” adding a personal touch to the diplomatic farewell.

Macron went on to thank Modi for what he described as a “ very fruitful visit ”, underscoring the strong relationship between the two countries. “Thank you for your visit. Thank you for our friendship. France loves you. We are looking forward to seeing you again soon, in February. Jai Hind ,” he said.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to France was marked by a series of high profile engagements. He arrived in Nice on June 13, where he joined Macron to inaugurate the Bharat Innovates programme and held bilateral discussions aimed at deepening cooperation across sectors. Following a brief visit to Slovakia , Modi returned to France to attend the G7 Summit in Evian-Les-Bains as the leader of a guest nation.

The visit concluded in Paris , where Modi addressed members of the Indian diaspora, participated in VivaTech 2026 , and interacted with leading technology executives and business leaders.

Reflecting on the trip, Modi described it as extensive in both engagement and outcomes. He highlighted discussions on innovation, technology, global cooperation and business partnerships, while expressing gratitude to Macron, the French government and the people of France for their hospitality.

“The India-France friendship will become even stronger in the times to come,” the Prime Minister said, signalling the continued momentum in one of India’s most important strategic partnerships.

Macron’s Hindi farewell message, though brief, served as a symbolic reminder of the deepening bonds between the two nations, showcasing how personal diplomacy continues to reinforce a relationship that spans defence, technology, trade and global cooperation.
