My Daughter Entered First: Suriya Reveals Diya Inspired 'Vishwanath & Sons' Scene
Suriya’s Vishwanath & Sons is releasing today amid decent buzz, with the actor in the lead role and Venky Atluri directing the film. Mamitha Baiju plays the female lead. Ahead of the release, Suriya has opened up about several personal experiences that found their way into the family drama, while producer Naga Vamsi has expressed strong confidence in its success.
Speaking about Vishwanath & Sons, Suriya revealed how his regret over missing important moments from his daughter Diya’s childhood inspired one of the film’s scenes. The actor recalled that his demanding career kept him away from home during Diya’s early years, leaving him with regrets about not being present for some of those precious moments.
Suriya said he became more conscious of being present for his children after his son Dev was born. He also recalled a special ritual connected to Diya’s birth. Around the time she was born, he bought his first house, and his family made sure Diya’s feet entered the new home first, based on the belief that a daughter brings Goddess Lakshmi into the house.
That memory inspired Suriya to suggest a similar scene in Vishwanath & Sons, involving baby Charvik entering his new home. What began as a personal memory therefore became part of the film’s emotional storytelling.
Suriya has also spoken about how he entered the film industry. The actor revealed that financial problems at home pushed him towards acting. He initially wanted to earn money and support his mother, rather than pursue acting as a long term career. He said he had very little preparation before facing the camera for his first opportunity, but audience support eventually encouraged him to continue.
His personal life also came up during the film’s promotions. Suriya and Jyotika have been married for nearly 20 years. When asked what married men should do to maintain peace at home, Suriya jokingly advised them to “Stay silent. Only listen. Don’t talk.”
Meanwhile, producer Naga Vamsi has made a strong statement about his confidence in Vishwanath & Sons ahead of its release. In a post on X, he said it has been six years since he felt this confident about a film from their banner. He added that audiences would laugh, cry and experience every emotion before leaving the theatre with Vishwanath & Sons on their minds.
Naga Vamsi’s comments underline how strongly he believes in the film’s content and its ability to connect with audiences. He is also confident that the Suriya starrer can deliver a success on the level of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, one of the biggest hits associated with his banner.
The promotional material has already generated decent buzz. Radhika Sarathkumar, Raveena Tandon, Viva Harsha and several others play important roles, while G V Prakash Kumar has composed the music.
The film is also arriving with strong pre release business expectations. According to Times of India, Vishwanath & Sons has recorded around Rs 200 crore in pre release business, while its advance bookings have crossed Rs 7 crore.
