Nagarkurnool, Narayanpet Win National Awards Under PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana
Telangana’s Nagarkurnool and Narayanpet districts have earned national recognition for their performance under the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY), as the central government’s flagship agricultural initiative completes one year. The awards were presented at a programme organised by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare at the NASC Complex in New Delhi, acknowledging the districts’ efforts in improving governance and strengthening agricultural support systems.
Nagarkurnool District Collector Hemant Keshav Patil and Narayanpet District Collector Chekka Priyanka, IAS, received the awards on behalf of their respective districts. The recognition highlights their work in addressing local development priorities and improving services and financial support for the farming community.
Nagarkurnool was honoured for its good governance and public service delivery. The district’s performance in administration and the delivery of services to people earned it a place among the recognised districts under the programme. The award underscores the importance of effective governance in ensuring that government initiatives reach their intended beneficiaries.
Narayanpet received recognition for its efforts to expand farmers’ access to short-term and long-term agricultural credit. Timely availability of institutional finance is crucial for farmers to meet cultivation expenses, invest in agricultural activities and manage their financial requirements across different stages of farming.
Launched on October 11, 2025, the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana seeks to improve agricultural performance in 100 districts across India. The programme primarily targets areas experiencing low agricultural productivity, reduced cropping intensity and limited agricultural credit availability. By focusing on these challenges, the initiative aims to strengthen farming systems and improve access to essential resources.
The scheme brings together 36 programmes from 11 Central government ministries under a coordinated framework. It also incorporates state government schemes and encourages private-sector participation to support development objectives and improve implementation at the district level.
In Telangana, the programme covers four districts: Nagarkurnool, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal and Jangaon. The awards to Nagarkurnool and Narayanpet reflect their progress in two key areas - administrative efficiency and agricultural finance - while highlighting the role of district-level implementation in advancing the scheme’s broader objectives.
