Nampally Court Summons Allu Arjun, 22 Others In Sandhya Theatre Stampede Case

A local court in Hyderabad has issued summons to actor Allu Arjun and 22 other accused in connection with the fatal stampede that occurred during the premiere screening of Pushpa 2 at Sandhya Theatre last year.

The Nampally court directed all the accused to appear in person on June 22 as it proceeds with the case arising from the tragic incident that claimed the life of a woman and left her young son seriously injured.

The summons were issued after the court examined a chargesheet filed by the Hyderabad police against 23 individuals. The chargesheet, submitted on December 24, names theatre management personnel, including the owner, partners, manager, balcony supervisors and gate staff, among the accused. Allu Arjun has been listed as the 11th accused in the case.

The incident occurred on December 4, 2024 , when thousands of fans gathered outside Sandhya Theatre to catch a glimpse of the actor during a special premiere show of Pushpa 2 . The massive crowd led to a stampede-like situation, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old woman. Her eight-year-old son sustained serious injuries in the chaos.

Following a complaint lodged by the victim's family, the Chikkadpally police registered a case against Allu Arjun, members of his security team and the theatre management under various provisions of the law, alleging lapses that contributed to the tragedy.

The actor was arrested by police on December 13, 2024 , as part of the investigation. However, he secured interim bail from the Telangana High Court the following day and was released from custody. He was subsequently granted regular bail.

In the aftermath of the incident, Allu Arjun and the Pushpa 2 film team announced financial assistance for the injured child’s family. The Telangana government also extended support and compensation to the affected family.

With the court now taking cognisance of the chargesheet, the case is set to enter a crucial phase as all accused are expected to appear before the Nampally court later this month.
