Nation Pays Tribute to APJ Abdul Kalam on 11th Death Anniversary

Political leaders from across the spectrum paid heartfelt tributes to Bharat Ratna Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on his 11th death anniversary, remembering the former President as the "Missile Man of India", a visionary scientist, and an inspiring teacher whose life continues to motivate millions. Leaders said Kalam's extraordinary contributions to science, defence, education, and nation-building transformed India's global standing, while his humility and unwavering faith in the country's youth made him one of the nation's most admired public figures.

Among those who paid homage were Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, and YSR Congress Party President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who shared tributes on the social media platform X, recalling Kalam's enduring legacy and his lifelong commitment to national development.

Chandrababu Naidu said Dr Kalam played a pivotal role in placing India among the world's leading nations in science and technology. He noted that Kalam's leadership in strengthening the country's indigenous defence capabilities earned him global recognition as the "Missile Man of India." Describing him as the "People's President," Naidu said Kalam remained humble despite holding the nation's highest constitutional office and inspired generations through his integrity, discipline, and belief that young people should dream big and work tirelessly to achieve their goals.

Paying tribute, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said Dr Kalam's remarkable contributions to science, technology, and nation-building laid a strong foundation for India's progress. He said the former President's vision, patriotism, and values would continue to guide future generations.

A. Revanth Reddy hailed Kalam as an outstanding scientist, teacher, and statesman, crediting him with making invaluable contributions to India's space programme, missile technology, and national security. He said Kalam's simplicity, dedication to public service, and unwavering confidence in the nation's youth would remain a lasting source of inspiration.

Widely regarded as the architect of India's Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam played a key role in the development of the Agni and Prithvi missile systems and contributed significantly to the country's strategic defence capabilities. He also played an important role in the Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998, reinforcing India's scientific and technological self-reliance.

Kalam served as India's 11th President from 2002 to 2007, earning widespread affection as the "People's President" for his accessibility and close interaction with students. Through acclaimed books such as Wings of Fire, Ignited Minds, and India 2020, he encouraged millions of young Indians to pursue innovation, integrity, and national service.

On July 27, 2015, Dr Kalam passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest while delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong in Meghalaya. Even in his final moments, he was interacting with students—a fitting end to a life dedicated to learning, leadership, and the belief that empowered youth would shape India's future. Today, his legacy continues to inspire the nation through his ideals of scientific excellence, self-reliance, and service before self.
