Nandamuri Balakrishna’s NBK 111 is eyeing a December 24, 2026 theatrical release, but the proposed date could put the highly anticipated Telugu action drama in the middle of one of the year’s most competitive holiday windows.

Directed by Gopichand Malineni, the film has been temporarily delayed after Balakrishna suffered a muscle tear while shooting an action sequence in July. He subsequently underwent treatment and has been recovering, with recent reports indicating that the veteran actor is expected to return to the sets in September.

The makers are reportedly keen to resume production as soon as possible and complete the remaining portions in time for a year-end release. The December 24 target, however, could bring NBK 111 face to face with several major releases competing for the same holiday audience.

Shah Rukh Khan’s King is officially scheduled to arrive in cinemas on December 24, 2026. Meanwhile, Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three are both scheduled for December 18. Avengers: Doomsday will also release in Telugu, while Dune: Part Three is scheduled for release in English and Hindi in India.

That makes the Christmas period particularly challenging for NBK 111. With three major international and Bollywood titles positioned around the same week, the film would have to compete for screens, premium formats and audience attention across multiple markets.

The project has nevertheless generated considerable interest following the release of its “Entry Of An Era” glimpse, which presented Balakrishna in a stylish and action-heavy avatar. The glimpse was released as a birthday special in June and showcased the film’s ambitious scale and mass-oriented presentation.

Kajal Aggarwal is the female lead, having replaced Nayanthara in the project earlier this year. The film also features Manchu Manoj, Sanjay Dutt, Samuthirakani, R Sarathkumar, Abhimanyu Singh, Upendra Limaye, Manish Wadhwa and Swasika in important roles.

Produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas, NBK 111 has music by S Thaman, cinematography by Arvind Kashyap and editing by Navin Nooli. Manchu Manoj’s inclusion in the cast was officially confirmed by Malineni earlier this year.
