Stressing the importance of early childhood education and nutrition, Telangana Women and Child Welfare Minister Dr. Danasari Anasuya Seethakka said that Anganwadi centres serve as the strongest foundation for a child’s future , playing a critical role in shaping young minds during their formative years.

The minister was speaking at the “Amma Mata – Anganwadi Bata” programme held at the Mallepally Centre, Mahatma Gandhi Nagar Anganwadi Centre under the Golconda Project in Hyderabad district. Accompanied by Nampally MLA Majid Hussain , she launched a special enrolment drive for children, distributed uniforms to pre-school students and presented school-readiness certificates to children preparing to enter primary education.

During her visit, Seethakka interacted with children and participated in an Aksharabhyasam session, encouraging early learning. She distributed study materials and toys and reviewed the facilities available at the centre, including pre-school education services, nutritional support and teaching aids. The minister also enquired about the children's learning progress and overall development.

Addressing parents and Anganwadi workers, Seethakka said that the state government remains committed to ensuring the holistic development of children through a combination of quality nutrition, healthcare and pre-school education. She noted that nearly nine lakh children are currently benefiting from services provided through around 38,000 Anganwadi centres across Telangana.

The minister said every enrolled child is being provided with two sets of uniforms along with 57 varieties of educational and play materials designed to make learning more engaging and enjoyable. She added that the breakfast programme introduced in Bhadradri Kothagudem and Adilabad districts has received a positive response and will soon be expanded across the state.

Seethakka also urged parents not to assume that quality early education is available only in private institutions. Anganwadi centres, she said, have evolved into vibrant learning spaces that help prepare children for formal schooling while ensuring their nutritional and developmental needs are met.

Later, the minister flagged off an awareness rally , calling upon the public to make greater use of Anganwadi services and support efforts to increase enrolment and awareness among families.
