NEC Completes ₹82.41 Crore Development Projects in Arunachal Pradesh

The North Eastern Council (NEC) has completed development projects worth ₹82.41 crore in Arunachal Pradesh during July and August, covering healthcare, education, rural infrastructure, horticulture and road connectivity across several districts.

The council has also released nearly ₹15 crore for ongoing projects focused on connectivity, education, agriculture and the preservation of indigenous languages, according to an official statement issued on Friday.

The completed projects were implemented under the Scheme of NEC (SoNEC) and the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS).

Among the major projects is the ₹14.38-crore upgrade of the 40-bed district hospital at Likabali in Lower Siang district. The upgraded facility includes a maternity ward, operation theatre, emergency and diagnostic equipment, besides a blood bank, strengthening healthcare infrastructure in the region.

The NEC has also completed boys’ and girls’ hostels at Roing in Dibang Valley district. The facilities were sanctioned at a cost of ₹5.17 crore and are expected to improve accommodation facilities for students.

Community infrastructure works were completed in the Hunli-Desali block of Lower Dibang Valley at a cost of ₹4.74 crore, while similar works in the Taliha block of Upper Subansiri were completed for ₹4.95 crore.

In Tirap district, the Tissa viewpoint near Tissa camp was developed at a cost of ₹1.8 crore as part of efforts to strengthen the area’s tourism potential.

The council also completed a 200-hectare bamboo plantation project across jhum and fallow lands in the Hikam and Muro areas of Tadin village in West Siang district at a cost of ₹2.19 crore.

The bamboo initiative aims to create sustainable livelihood opportunities while providing an alternative to shifting cultivation, the statement said.
