Netflix Bets Big On Alix E. Harrow's Fantasy Bestseller The Everlasting

Streaming giant Netflix is officially developing a series adaptation of Alix E. Harrow's bestselling fantasy novel The Everlasting , marking the first known screen adaptation of the acclaimed author's work to enter official development.

According to Variety, Netflix secured the rights to the novel following a competitive bidding process and has moved forward with plans to bring the time-bending fantasy story to the screen. Daphne Ferraro has been attached as writer and executive producer for the project.

Ferraro will executive produce alongside author Alix E. Harrow , as well as Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Katy Rozelle, and Lea Cuello .

Published earlier this year, The Everlasting is a fantasy novel built around themes of history, destiny, sacrifice and love. The story follows Sir Una Everlasting , a legendary knight whose heroic deeds helped build a nation and whose life has been immortalised through stories and folklore. However, the true events of her life have long been forgotten.

Centuries later, Owen Mallory , a failed soldier and struggling scholar, becomes captivated by Una's story. His fascination ultimately sends him back through time, intertwining his fate with Una's in a seemingly endless cycle. Bound together across different eras, the pair repeatedly relive the same story and tragic ending. To change their future, they must attempt to rewrite history itself.

Harrow shared the adaptation news with readers on social media, expressing gratitude for the strong support her novel has received. She noted that television projects often face numerous challenges before reaching screens but said she felt fortunate to have Ferraro leading the adaptation.

The author also praised the creative process of seeing other artists transform her work into a new medium.
