Netflix Secures Exclusive Rights to 2030 FIFA World Cup in Spain and Andorra
Streaming giant Netflix has secured exclusive broadcasting rights to all 104 matches of the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Spain and Andorra, marking a major expansion of its presence in live sports broadcasting.
According to Variety, the agreement with FIFA covers the centenary edition of the men’s football tournament, which will be co-hosted by Spain, Morocco and Portugal. The deal gives Netflix the rights to broadcast every match in Spain and Andorra.
Under the agreement, one match per matchday will be available free in Spain. Additionally, a package covering every match played by the Spanish national team, both semifinals and the final will be offered to a national free-to-air broadcaster. Netflix has not yet announced which television partner will carry these matches, with further details expected closer to the tournament. The financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.
Netflix plans to provide comprehensive coverage, including pre-match, half-time and post-match programmes featuring a distinctly Spanish perspective. The streaming platform will also offer daily highlights programmes on matchdays and additional content to build excitement ahead of the tournament.
Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria said few sporting events bring people together like the World Cup. She added that the company’s expanding partnership with FIFA, which also includes the 2027 and 2031 FIFA Women’s World Cups in the United States and Canada, reflects its commitment to bringing fans closer to major sporting events.
The announcement follows Spain’s reported triumph at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the team defeated Argentina 1-0 after extra time on July 19, 2026. Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal in the 106th minute, securing Spain’s second men’s World Cup title after its maiden victory in 2010.
Spain’s reported 2026 triumph also followed its UEFA Euro 2024 success, further strengthening the national team’s standing in international football.
