New No. 1 in T20Is: Ishan Kishan Ousts Abhishek Sharma in ICC Rankings Shake-Up
India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has climbed to the top of the latest ICC men’s T20I batting rankings , displacing his teammate Abhishek Sharma in a closely fought race released on Wednesday.
Kishan now leads the chart with 876 rating points , while Abhishek Sharma, who had held the No. 1 position for nearly 12 months , follows closely with 869 points . The left-handed batter’s rise to the summit has been powered by his consistent performances at the T20 World Cup earlier this year , where he amassed 317 runs at a strike rate close to 200 , including a standout Player of the Match performance against Pakistan in Colombo .
With this achievement, Kishan becomes only the fourth Indian male batter to reach the No. 1 position in T20I rankings, joining elite companies featuring names such as Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav.
Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan sits third with 848 points , while India’s newly appointed vice-captain Tilak Varma remains steady at sixth place with 747 points . Suryakumar Yadav has slipped one spot to eighth in the latest update.
Among bowlers, India’s Varun Chakravarthy and Jasprit Bumrah have both dropped one position to occupy third and sixth places respectively in the T20I bowling rankings. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan continues to dominate the top spot among bowlers.
In the Test rankings , Australia’s Travis Head has surged to No. 1 in batting, pushing England’s Joe Root down to third place. India Test captain Shubman Gill moved up to sixth, while Yashasvi Jaiswal slipped to ninth. Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant remains the highest-ranked Indian outside the top 10 at 13th position.
In the bowling charts, Bumrah continues to remain India’s top-ranked Test bowler despite minor fluctuations in other formats, underlining his consistent global standing across formats.
