NIA Links Six Accused to Pakistan-Based KZF Operative in Punjab Railway Blast Case
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday filed a charge sheet against six accused in connection with the April 27 blast on the railway line between Shambhu and Rajpura stations in Punjab, which claimed the life of alleged Khalistani operative Jagroop Singh.
The charge sheet was submitted before the NIA Special Court in Mohali against Gurjinder Singh alias Beant Baba, Satnam Singh, Pardeep Singh alias Khalsa, Kulvinder Singh alias Bagga, Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi and Manjeet Singh, the agency said in a statement.
The accused have been charged under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Arms Act, Explosive Substances Act, Railways Act, Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
According to the NIA, the accused were allegedly part of a conspiracy that led to an explosion on the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd (DFCCIL) railway line at kilometre 1174-5 between Shambhu and Rajpura stations on April 27, 2026.
The alleged conspiracy was intended to further the terror activities of the banned Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF), disrupt communal harmony and destabilise the law and order situation in Punjab, the agency said.
The NIA further stated that its investigation revealed that the arrested accused, along with deceased accused Jagroop Singh, were allegedly involved in a conspiracy hatched by Pakistan-based Ranjeet Singh alias Neeta.
Neeta, who is associated with the KZF, has been declared a designated individual terrorist, according to the agency.
The conspiracy allegedly aimed to promote Khalistani ideology and advance the objectives of the banned organisation.
The NIA said the terror network was involved in activities including raising funds for terrorism, procuring explosives, arms and ammunition, spreading fear among the public and threatening the country's integrity, security and sovereignty.
Further investigation in the case is continuing, the agency said.
