NIA raids Government Medical College Anantnag in connection with terror network case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday conducted searches at the Government Medical College (GMC) in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir in connection with its investigation into the so-called “white-collar” terror module that was busted in November last year.

Official sources said a team of NIA officers arrived at the medical college campus and carried out searches as part of follow-up investigations linked to the recovery of a rifle from the locker of a doctor in November 2025.

The doctor, identified as Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather , was among nine persons arrested by the NIA for allegedly being part of the terror module. The group has been described by investigators as a “white-collar” network as it involved educated professionals, including medical personnel, who allegedly provided logistical and operational support to terror outfits.

The investigation had earlier led to the recovery of a large cache of explosives from Faridabad in the National Capital Region (NCR) , exposing an inter-state network engaged in procuring, storing and transporting arms and explosive materials.

Officials said the searches at GMC Anantnag were conducted to gather additional evidence and verify links between the accused and the larger conspiracy. Documents and digital devices are also believed to have been examined during the operation.

Meanwhile, security forces also launched a separate search operation in the Koil Karewa area of Pulwama district following specific intelligence inputs about the possible presence of terrorists in the area.

“No arrests or recoveries have been made so far in the Pulwama operation,” officials said, adding that the search was still underway.

The NIA continues to probe the financial, logistical and human networks associated with the white-collar terror module, which officials say highlights the growing involvement of educated individuals in facilitating terror activities.
