Nitin Nabin Chairs First Meeting of BJP State In-Charges, Focus on Grassroots Organisation

BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday chaired the first meeting of the party’s newly appointed state and Union Territory in-charges and co-in-charges at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, with the leadership stressing grassroots organisational work and regular engagement with state units.

Around 65 in-charges and co-in-charges participated in the meeting, which was also attended by BJP national general secretary (organisation) B L Santhosh and other senior leaders. The gathering marked the first collective interaction of the newly appointed functionaries after the party announced its organisational reshuffle on September 23.

According to sources, the newly appointed leaders were asked to spend more time in their assigned states and avoid unnecessary visits to Delhi. They were told to focus on their organisational responsibilities and strengthen the party network at the grassroots level.

The leadership also stressed the need to strengthen the organisation up to the booth level and maintain regular meetings with party workers. Functionaries handling states headed for Assembly elections were asked to make frequent visits and remain closely connected with local organisational units.

The meeting also discussed preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, including organisational preparedness and election-related programmes. The BJP is among the parties preparing for the 2027 Assembly election cycle in several states.

Leaders were also asked to increase outreach among women, youth and different sections of society. The meeting discussed programmes to engage young people across states and the need for regular feedback from state-level functionaries.

The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, being organised to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in public life, was another subject discussed during the meeting. The ongoing campaign activities and further organisational programmes were reviewed, according to sources.

Nabin had on September 23 appointed in-charges and co-in-charges for all 28 states and eight Union Territories. Among the key appointments, Smriti Irani was given charge of Haryana and Chhattisgarh, Ram Madhav was assigned Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand, Vinod Tawde was made Uttar Pradesh in-charge, Baijayant Jay Panda was given Maharashtra, and Harish Dwivedi was assigned Bihar and Karnataka.
