Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed Congress ministers, legislators and party functionaries to remain fully engaged in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, warning that any negligence in the exercise could have serious political and democratic consequences.

Addressing senior party leaders during a virtual meeting on Wednesday, the Chief Minister emphasized that the voter list revision process must be treated as a top priority. He cautioned that eligible voters should not lose their names from the electoral rolls due to oversight or lack of coordination at the grassroots level.

Describing the exercise as a highly sensitive and important process , Revanth Reddy said reports had reached him indicating that some leaders were not giving the campaign the attention it deserves. He made it clear that the party leadership would closely monitor the performance of constituency in-charges over the next ten days and take corrective measures wherever necessary.

The Chief Minister warned that if the party suffers because of inaction or poor implementation, responsibility would be fixed on those concerned. He also indicated that leaders who fail to carry out the assigned tasks effectively could be replaced with new appointees.

Calling for an intensified awareness campaign, Revanth Reddy instructed district-level leaders and in-charge ministers to take the message to every village and urban locality. He urged party workers to educate citizens about the voter verification process and help eligible voters complete the required formalities on time.

The Chief Minister also appealed to Congress-backed sarpanches and local representatives to organize special awareness programmes in villages to ensure that people understand the significance of updating and verifying their voter details.

Highlighting the broader importance of the exercise, Revanth Reddy said the issue goes beyond elections and touches upon the democratic rights of citizens. He stressed that protecting the voting rights of the poor and marginalized sections of society is a collective responsibility. The loss of a voter registration entry, he noted, could create unnecessary complications for individuals in accessing various government services and official records in the future.

According to an official statement from the Chief Minister’s Office , party cadres have been instructed to maintain strict vigilance throughout the revision process and ensure that not a single genuine voter is excluded from the electoral rolls. With the voter verification drive gathering momentum across Telangana, the Congress leadership is seeking to mobilize its entire organizational network to safeguard every eligible citizen’s right to vote.
