Northern Army Commander Pratik Sharma on Friday chaired a high-level security review meeting in Jammu to assess the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir and strengthen the counter-terror framework across the region.

According to officials, the weekly coordination meeting brought together senior representatives from the Army, paramilitary forces, intelligence agencies and civil administration. Discussions centred on enhancing real-time intelligence sharing , improving inter-agency coordination and ensuring rapid response capabilities to emerging threats.

The Northern Command said the stakeholders worked on “synergising the anti-terror roadmap” and reaffirmed a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism . Emphasis was laid on seamless integration among security forces to maintain a mission-ready posture across the Union Territory.

The review comes amid a sensitive security environment in Jammu and Kashmir. While overall violence levels have declined compared to previous years, sporadic militant incidents, infiltration attempts along the Line of Control, and targeted attacks continue to pose challenges. Security forces remain on heightened alert, particularly in vulnerable districts and border areas.

Officials noted that sustained operations, improved surveillance and coordinated intelligence efforts have helped contain militant activity, but vigilance remains critical to prevent any resurgence. The Army and other agencies have intensified joint operations and area domination patrols to ensure stability.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to maintain peace and security in the region through coordinated action and swift operational readiness.
