Nothing Is Related To Sabarimala: Shiva Nirvana On Ravi Teja’s 'Irumudi' Before Trailer

The trailer of Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja’s Irumudi will be released on Wednesday, August 12. The film is set to hit theatres worldwide on August 21 and has already created interest with its emotional story and devotional setting.

Directed by Shiva Nirvana, Irumudi is Ravi Teja’s 77th film. Priya Bhavani Shankar plays the female lead as Kaveri, while Baby Nakshathra plays Ravi Teja’s daughter. The film is produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar under Mythri Movie Makers. GV Prakash Kumar has composed the music.

The film’s first glimpse, titled The Heart of Irumudi, showed Ravi Teja as a loving father with a strong bond with his daughter. It also hinted at a troubled side to his character. The actor is seen as a man with an alcohol problem who takes up Ayyappa Deeksha as part of his journey.

The Ayyappa backdrop has also raised questions about whether the story is linked to Sabarimala. Shiva Nirvana has now cleared the air.

Speaking to Galatta Plus, the director said there is nothing related to Sabarimala in the film. He explained that the 41-day Ayyappa Deeksha is only a part of the hero’s life and is used to create conflict in the story.

Shiva Nirvana wanted to write a flawed character. His hero is a man who drinks, but taking up the Deeksha means he has to give up alcohol and follow strict habits. That change becomes an important part of the story.

The makers have already released Irumudi Kattu, a devotional song featuring Ravi Teja and his daughter. The song also highlights the family bond at the heart of the film.

With the trailer arriving on August 12, audiences will get their first detailed look at how Shiva Nirvana has mixed family emotions, personal conflict and devotion in Irumudi.
