Omar Abdullah Highlights J&K’s Financial Priorities at Delhi Conference

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday attended a two-day conference on “Financing India’s Journey towards Viksit Bharat” organised by the Union Ministry of Finance here.

The conference brought together chief ministers, finance ministers, finance secretaries and senior officials from states and Union territories to deliberate on financial and economic strategies aimed at supporting India’s development goals.

The Office of the Chief Minister said Abdullah attended the conference with the expectation that the discussions would help establish clear financial pathways for Jammu and Kashmir. In a post on X, the Chief Minister’s Office said the deliberations would focus on areas relevant to the Union Territory’s economic growth and long-term development.

The discussions are expected to cover issues related to macroeconomic growth, agricultural transformation and renewable energy, with an emphasis on sustainable and inclusive development. The conference provides a platform for representatives from the Centre, states and Union territories to exchange views on financing priorities and strategies for achieving the broader objective of a developed India.

For Jammu and Kashmir, the deliberations are particularly significant as the Union Territory seeks to strengthen its economic base and pursue development across key sectors. The Chief Minister’s participation also provides an opportunity to highlight the Union Territory’s financial and developmental priorities before senior officials involved in framing national economic policies.

The CMO said the discussions would contribute to shaping financial pathways that can support sustainable and inclusive development in Jammu and Kashmir. The two-day conference is being attended by senior representatives from across the country and is focused on financing mechanisms and economic priorities associated with India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.

Abdullah’s participation comes as the Union Territory continues to focus on strengthening agriculture, expanding renewable energy opportunities and promoting broader economic growth. The deliberations are expected to provide a platform for discussing how financial resources and policy measures can be aligned with the development requirements of different states and Union territories.
