Swedish beauty and wellness company Oriflame has reached an agreement to transfer its manufacturing facilities in India to Pure and Cure Healthcare Private Limited, a wholly owned arm of Akums Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited.

The proposed deal involves Oriflame's production facilities in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, and Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The transaction is yet to be completed and will require the fulfilment of customary conditions and necessary regulatory clearances.

Following the transfer, Oriflame and Akums plan to maintain a long-term manufacturing and supply arrangement. Under the proposed partnership, Akums will continue producing Oriflame's products in India, helping ensure uninterrupted supplies while adhering to the company's established quality requirements.

Oriflame said the Indian market continues to hold strategic significance for its business. The Swedish company has been present in India for more than three decades and plans to continue expanding its social selling operations through its nationwide network of Beauty Entrepreneurs. Oriflame CEO and President Anna Malmhake said the agreement would allow the company to tap into Akums' manufacturing capabilities while providing greater flexibility in its operations and sourcing network.

Edyta Kurek, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Oriflame India, said the arrangement combines Oriflame's international product knowledge and quality benchmarks with Akums' manufacturing expertise. She also assured customers and Beauty Entrepreneurs that the company's day-to-day commercial activities, products and services will continue without changes.

Employees currently working at the two manufacturing sites will be offered the opportunity to remain with the facilities' new owner under their existing employment terms and conditions. Oriflame clarified that the transaction does not include its Indian commercial business, Beauty Entrepreneur network, trademarks or customer-facing operations. These activities will continue to be managed by Oriflame India Private Limited.

Globally, Oriflame operates across more than 60 markets, offering products spanning skincare, cosmetics, fragrances, personal care and nutritional supplements. The company has more than three million Beauty Entrepreneurs and members worldwide.
