A gun attack inside a luxury hotel in Churu district’s Bidasar area left one man dead and three others critically injured late Monday night, police said on Tuesday in an incident that has shaken local residents and drawn political criticism.

The attack occurred at about 12:30 a.m. at Hotel The Royal Treat when three armed assailants allegedly stormed into the premises and opened fire indiscriminately, Churu police said. Hotel owner Maniram Manda was struck by multiple bullets and died at the scene. Three other men identified as Bikhiram Jat, Shravan Jat and Phrburam Prajapat , all residents of the nearby village of Dadiba, were seriously wounded in the gunfire and initially treated at a local hospital before being referred to Jaipur for advanced care.

Police have sealed the hotel and deployed a heavy security force in and around the area as part of the ongoing investigation. Early police sources said CCTV footage from inside the hotel captures the gunmen entering and firing rounds, and officers have reportedly identified at least one suspect based on the footage. Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) teams have also been called in to collect evidence at the scene.

Preliminary inquiry suggests the attack may be linked to a rivalry between groups involved in the liquor trade , as Manda was known to be active in both the liquor and hospitality businesses. However, senior officers caution that the exact motive will only be confirmed after the investigation is completed. Police have registered a formal case and multiple teams are conducting raids and searches to apprehend the suspects.

Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot condemned the incident, saying it has “shaken” the state and highlighted growing concerns about law and order. “Criminals have no fear of law,” he said, urging the current government to prioritize public safety amid a spate of violent incidents reported across the state.

Authorities said the situation in Bidasar remains under control, with heightened patrols and checkpoints to prevent further violence as investigators continue to track down those responsible.
