The AIADMK on Saturday staged a protest in Dindigul district, demanding a CBI investigation into the alleged fraudulent transfer of prime land belonging to the Palani Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple, reportedly valued at around ₹100 crore.

The protest was led by senior AIADMK leader and former minister Dindigul C. Sreenivasan, with party functionaries raising slogans against the state government and alleging that officials had facilitated the illegal registration of temple property in favour of private individuals.

Sreenivasan alleged that the disputed land, belonging to the historic Palani temple, was fraudulently registered to private buyers despite litigation pending before the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court. He claimed that the property, estimated to be worth nearly ₹100 crore, was allegedly acquired for just ₹2 crore.

The former minister further alleged that three key suspects remained at large and accused the authorities of failing to take action against officials allegedly responsible for the registration as well as the private buyers who acquired the property.

The AIADMK alleged that the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department had failed to prevent the alleged transfer of temple land and demanded accountability from those involved.

The party maintained that only a full-fledged CBI probe could establish the extent of the alleged official collusion, identify those responsible and help recover the temple's property. The protest comes amid growing political demands for scrutiny of the alleged land transaction and action against those accused of facilitating it.
