A cantilevered viewing deck has been constructed at the popular Dabhosa waterfall in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, with the new tourist facility scheduled to be inaugurated on August 15, officials said on Thursday.

The district administration said preparations are underway to ensure that all necessary arrangements are completed before the formal opening of the structure. Officials are focusing on strengthening safety measures, crowd management systems, and parking facilities to provide a secure and convenient experience for visitors arriving at the scenic waterfall destination.

In an official release, the administration appealed to citizens and tourists not to use the newly built viewing deck before the inauguration ceremony. Authorities said the restriction has been issued as the facility is yet to be formally opened for public access.

The district administration also warned that any violation of the instructions could lead to disciplinary action against the superintending engineer and concerned staff members responsible for overseeing the project and its operations.

The directions were issued during a review meeting chaired by Palghar Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik on Thursday. During the meeting, officials reviewed the preparedness of various departments involved in making the tourist attraction operational.

Dabhosa waterfall, located in Jawhar taluka of Palghar district, is among Maharashtra’s well-known monsoon tourism spots and attracts visitors for its natural beauty and adventure activities. The addition of the viewing deck is expected to enhance the tourist experience by providing visitors with a better vantage point of the waterfall and surrounding landscape.

Officials said the priority remains ensuring that all facilities are in place before allowing public access. The administration has urged visitors to cooperate with the restrictions until the inauguration, after which the viewing deck will be officially opened for tourists.
