The Monsoon Session of Parliament will be held from July 20 to August 13 , with President Droupadi Murmu approving the government's recommendation to summon both Houses, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced on Saturday.

In a post on X, Rijiju said the President had approved the convening of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha for the session, which is expected to witness discussions on key legislative and national issues.

"The Session will commence on 20 July, 2026 and continue till 13 August, 2026 for meaningful debate, discussion and decisions on issues of national importance ," the minister said.

The Monsoon Session is the second Parliament session of the year and is expected to see the government introduce and take up several legislative proposals, while the Opposition is likely to raise a range of political, economic and governance-related issues.

The announcement comes amid heightened political activity, with several policy matters and pending bills expected to feature prominently during the nearly four-week sitting. The detailed legislative agenda and business list are likely to be announced closer to the commencement of the session.

The session will provide a crucial platform for lawmakers to debate government policies, scrutinise proposed legislation and discuss matters of public importance before both Houses adjourn in mid-August.
