Pawan Kalyan Pens Emotional Birthday Tribute To Chiranjeevi

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan penned an emotional birthday tribute to his elder brother and Megastar Chiranjeevi, who turned 70 on August 22, recalling cherished childhood memories and praising his brother’s extraordinary journey in cinema and public life.

Pawan remembered the excitement that filled their home whenever Chiranjeevi returned from Narsapur during college holidays. His return, he said, felt like a festival, while his departure left a sense of emptiness in the family. Long before Chiranjeevi became a major star, Pawan said, he was already his hero.

One memory that remained particularly special was Chiranjeevi’s first trip to Singapore. Pawan recalled receiving a large blue bag filled with a toy helicopter, remote-controlled cars, comics, music cassettes and fragrant powders. Though the family lived in a modest home, these gifts brought immense happiness and excitement.

Pawan also spoke about witnessing Chiranjeevi’s struggles firsthand. He recalled seeing his brother work for nearly 18 hours a day, returning home exhausted and sometimes carrying injuries from his demanding profession. Watching that dedication left a lasting impression on Pawan, who said he often felt he was benefiting from the fruits of his brother’s hard work.

He recalled becoming emotional after Chiranjeevi’s marriage, fearing that their bond might change. However, the time he later spent with Chiranjeevi and his wife in Chennai became another treasured chapter of his life.

Pawan praised Chiranjeevi for remaining committed to work despite achieving the stature of a Superstar, Megastar and Union Minister. He also admired his determination to continue working even after undergoing recent spinal surgery.

Beyond cinema, Pawan highlighted Chiranjeevi’s generosity towards family, friends, producers and colleagues. He also credited him with building a cultural bridge between South Indian and Hindi cinema, recalling successful Hindi films such as Pratibandh and Aaj Ka Goonda Raj.

Pawan shared a childhood photograph and a video of the brothers with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Responding to the tribute, Chiranjeevi said that although Pawan calls him a hero, his brother’s determination, honesty and selfless journey had inspired him deeply. He thanked Pawan for the memories and described his love as one of the greatest blessings of his life.
