Pawan Kalyan Reviews Tiger Movement in Kakinada, Orders Round-the-Clock Surveillance

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan reviewed the situation after a tiger was reported moving through the Reserve Forest area near Dharapalli in Prathipadu mandal of Kakinada district. He held discussions with officials to assess the animal’s movements, the prevailing situation and the measures being taken to prevent any threat to people living in villages along the forest boundary.

During the review, Pawan Kalyan sought detailed information from the officials about the tiger’s recent movements and the surveillance arrangements put in place by the Forest Department. He directed the department, along with the ‘Hanuman’ teams, to maintain continuous monitoring of the animal and ensure that its movements are closely tracked.

The Deputy Chief Minister stressed the importance of taking preventive measures rather than waiting for the tiger to approach inhabited areas. Officials were instructed to remain alert and take necessary steps to prevent the animal from entering villages or other human habitations.

Pawan Kalyan also called for greater coordination with local Revenue authorities to keep residents informed about the situation. People living in forest-fringe villages should be alerted and provided with necessary safety instructions, he said, while officials should continue assessing developments on the ground.

At the same time, he made it clear that efforts to protect residents should be balanced with the need to ensure the tiger is not harmed. He instructed the Forest, Police and Revenue departments to work together and maintain effective coordination until the situation is brought under control.

The Deputy Chief Minister further directed authorities to keep Rapid Response Teams ready for immediate deployment in case of an emergency. Their preparedness, he said, would be crucial to ensuring a quick response if the tiger moves closer to populated areas or if an unforeseen situation develops.

Pawan Kalyan asked officials to conduct regular reviews and take prompt decisions based on the animal’s movements. He emphasised that authorities should focus on advance planning and preventive action to minimise inconvenience and risks for local residents.

He also directed officials to provide timely safety advisories to people in rural areas and keep them informed about precautions to be followed. Continuous surveillance, inter-departmental coordination and quick response, he said, should remain the focus as authorities monitor the tiger’s movement in Kakinada district.
