Pawan Kalyan Transforms Konidela into Model Village with ₹6 Crore Development Push

A small village in Nandyal district is undergoing a remarkable transformation after Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan fulfilled his promise to adopt and develop Konidela village in Nandikotkur mandal. Sharing his family name with the village, the Deputy CM pledged during the 2019 elections to support its development. Today, through a combination of personal donations and government funding exceeding ₹6 crore , Konidela is steadily evolving into a model rural settlement.

During a visit last year, Pawan Kalyan contributed ₹50 lakh from his personal funds to address the village’s most urgent issue drinking water scarcity. Using these funds, officials constructed a 90,000-litre protected drinking water overhead tank , ensuring safe and reliable water supply for residents and reducing dependence on seasonal sources.

Development efforts have extended far beyond water access. Under the state’s Palle Panduga initiative and other rural infrastructure programmes, cement concrete roads were laid at a cost of about ₹65 lakh , improving internal mobility. In a major connectivity boost, ₹4 crore was sanctioned under the Rural Roads Development Sub-Plan for constructing a 5-kilometre BT road linking the Konidela ZP High School to Lakshmapuram, enhancing access to markets, schools and healthcare.

Agriculture and livelihoods have also received focused attention. Under the employment guarantee scheme, 49 feeder channels were developed to support irrigation and improve farm productivity. Irrigation canals were restored and three community check dams repaired, strengthening water conservation and ensuring better groundwater recharge. To support livestock-dependent families, four Gokulams (cattle shelters) were established, while 19 permanent houses were constructed to improve housing security for eligible beneficiaries.

Officials say the integrated approach combining water security, infrastructure, agriculture support and housing reflects a targeted rural development model aimed at improving quality of life while strengthening economic resilience. Villagers report significant improvements in daily living conditions, particularly in water access, road connectivity and agricultural support.

What began as an electoral assurance has grown into a comprehensive development initiative demonstrating how focused planning and sustained commitment can transform rural communities. With ongoing improvements and coordinated administrative support, Konidela village is emerging as a replicable example of grassroots development and inclusive governance in Andhra Pradesh.
