Pawan Kalyan Unveils ₹1,500 Crore Development Plan for Pithapuram

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has said his objective is to transform Pithapuram Assembly constituency into a model constituency in the country, with development initiatives being planned around the needs, aspirations and expectations of its people.

Speaking at a public meeting at the RRBHR College grounds in Pithapuram on Tuesday, Pawan Kalyan inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development works worth ₹1,500 crore. He said the coalition government was identifying local needs and implementing projects aimed at improving infrastructure and public services.

Pawan Kalyan said more than ₹200 crore had already been spent on road development in the constituency since the government assumed office. Over 600 CC and BT roads have been completed, while another 202 roads were recently inaugurated. For drinking water facilities, around ₹320 crore is being utilised in rural areas through the Jal Jeevan Mission and Amarajeevi Jaladhara funds. Nearly ₹140 crore worth of works are also being taken up in Pithapuram and Gollaprolu municipalities under AMRUT 2.0 with support from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

He said a camp office would be established in Pithapuram within the next three to four months. During the visit, he inspected livelihood products made from water hyacinth and interacted with meritorious Class 10 students. Laptops were distributed to 32 students, with the Deputy Chief Minister encouraging them to pursue higher goals.

To improve fishermen’s safety, 1,258 fishermen from Uppada-Kothapalli mandal received sea safety kits and life jackets. Seventy-six fishermen were provided dry-fish units, while 30 received Kinetic Hondas and three beneficiaries were given autorickshaws.

Women’s self-help groups were supported through ₹120 crore in sanctioned loans. House regularisation pattas were also distributed to 10 beneficiaries.

A 100-bed regional hospital is being upgraded at ₹34 crore, with more than half the work completed. Twenty-six Ayushman Arogya Kendras are being constructed at ₹7 crore, while Kakinada GGH will receive a ₹45-crore oncology block, linear accelerator and mobile cancer screening facilities.

An ₹225-crore underground drainage project is underway in Pithapuram, along with sewage treatment plants and waste-processing facilities. Temple development works worth ₹34 crore are also planned.

For Uppada’s coastal erosion problem, the Centre has approved a ₹323-crore protective wall, with IIT Madras completing the design and survey. Other projects include a ₹118-crore road overbridge, an Ayush medical college, railway station development and upgrades to schools, markets and public facilities.

Pawan Kalyan said his efforts would continue until Pithapuram emerges as a more developed constituency, while thanking the Centre and state government for their support.
