Peddi Crosses Rs 400 Crore Worldwide Makers Announce Mega Blockbuster Event On June 23
Ram Charan's sports action drama Peddi has crossed Rs 400 crore worldwide, prompting its makers to announce a Mega Blockbuster Event on June 23, 2026, at Shilpakala Vedika in Hyderabad from 6 PM, with Ram Charan, director Buchi Babu Sana and the cast and crew expected to attend.
Written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film is set in 1980s rural Andhra Pradesh, following a villager who unites his community through sport against a rival group, amid themes of class divide and inequality. Ram Charan plays a crossover athlete competing in cricket, wrestling and running, opposite Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu and Boman Irani, with music by A R Rahman.
Released worldwide on June 4 across five languages, Peddi opened with a Rs 110 crore single day gross and became Ram Charan's third film after RRR and Rangasthalam to cross Rs 300 crore worldwide. It overtook Suriya's Karuppu to become 2026's top South Indian grosser, then surpassed Chiranjeevi's Mana ShankaraVaraprasad Garu to become the year's biggest Telugu hit, a notable generational milestone.
To sustain momentum, the makers added six minutes of fresh footage from June 18 and distributed the film in North India through Jio Studios, building on the success of Dhurandhar and its sequel. Promotional events featuring A R Rahman performing live in Bhopal and Ravi Kishan addressing fans, while Ram Charan's wrestler look as Peddi Pehelwan went viral online.
The film also drew criticism over its treatment of Janhvi Kapoor's character, prompting Buchi Babu Sana to apologise and edit the contested scenes. Chiranjeevi himself recently met the team to congratulate them on the blockbuster run.
