Former minister and Punganur MLA Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy has called on YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) workers to work collectively to strengthen the party ahead of the upcoming local body and general elections. He said YS Jagan Mohan Reddy continued to focus on public welfare irrespective of whether the party was in power.

Peddireddy was speaking at a programme organised to distribute identity cards to state, district, constituency and mandal-level leaders appointed to various YSRCP committees in Pulicherla and Rompicherla mandals of the Punganur constituency. He said the party had recognised and appointed several leaders who had worked hard for the organisation across the State.

He said YSRCP workers who died accidentally were being supported, with YS Jagan providing ₹5 lakh financial assistance to their families. Peddireddy also alleged that farmers across the State were facing difficulties due to inadequate irrigation facilities and claimed that Rayalaseema was reeling under drought conditions.

Referring to the Potireddypadu project, Peddireddy claimed that Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had stated in the Assembly that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had assured that the project would not be completed.

Peddireddy said the previous YSRCP government had implemented its election promises but failed to receive the level of public support it had expected in the last elections. He alleged that women and farmers had been misled by the promises made by the coalition government.

He further alleged that the coalition government was seeking to use police support to secure victories in local body elections. He urged party workers to remain steadfast and work at the grassroots level to strengthen the organisation and ensure its success in the forthcoming polls.

Meanwhile, YSRCP constituency coordinator Dr Sake Shailajanath held a meeting with party leaders and workers from the Kalluru, Illuru and Muntimadugu MPTC areas in Garledinne mandal of Singanamala constituency.

Shailajanath said the party needed the active support of every worker and stressed the importance of demonstrating its organisational strength among people under Jagan's leadership. He said people were observing the political developments in the State and would respond at an appropriate time.

He urged leaders to maintain regular contact with workers and ensure respect and recognition for grassroots cadres. He also called for new entrants to be given appropriate opportunities within the party.

Meanwhile, several youngsters from Kalluru village who had been associated with the TDP joined the YSRCP. Shailajanath welcomed them into the party by presenting them with YSRCP scarves. Several party leaders, workers and MPTCs attended the programme.
