PepsiCo Bets Big on India with New Rs 1,266 Crore Manufacturing Facility in MP’s Ujjain
India has emerged as one of PepsiCo's most important global growth markets, and the company has taken another major step to strengthen its presence by inaugurating a Rs 1,266 crore flavour manufacturing facility in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh . The investment is among the company's largest manufacturing commitments in the country and reflects its long term confidence in India's growing food and beverage sector.
Spread across 22 acres , the newly inaugurated facility is PepsiCo India's second flavour manufacturing plant and the company's ninth such facility globally . The plant will manufacture beverage concentrates used across PepsiCo's portfolio of popular soft drink brands, helping the company enhance production capacity and improve supply chain efficiency to meet rising consumer demand.
The new facility also forms part of PepsiCo's broader commitment to invest Rs 5,700 crore in India by 2030 . Through this investment, the company aims to expand its manufacturing network, modernise operations, and support India's fast growing consumer market.
Beyond increasing production, the Ujjain plant is expected to make a significant contribution to the regional economy. The project is likely to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities while encouraging the growth of ancillary industries and supporting industrial development across central India . Such investments are expected to strengthen the local manufacturing ecosystem and create new business opportunities for suppliers and service providers.
Speaking on the occasion, Eugene Willemsen , CEO of PepsiCo International Beverages , described India as a strategic market for the company's global operations. He said the new facility reflects PepsiCo's long term commitment to the country and combines the company's global manufacturing expertise with advanced technology and sustainability practices to better serve Indian consumers.
Jagrut Kotecha , CEO of PepsiCo India & South Asia , said the inauguration represents another milestone in the company's growing partnership with India. He noted that the investment reinforces PepsiCo's commitment to expanding its manufacturing capabilities while contributing to the country's economic growth.
PepsiCo has also been strengthening its agricultural presence in Madhya Pradesh through collaborative farming initiatives. The company currently works with more than 2,000 farmers in the state, promoting the sustainable cultivation of chip grade potatoes used in its snack business. This partnership has helped create a stronger farm to factory supply chain while supporting farmer livelihoods through modern agricultural practices.
With its latest investment, PepsiCo is not only expanding production capacity but also reinforcing its long term strategy of combining manufacturing, sustainable sourcing, and local partnerships to drive future growth in India.
