Government officials and employees took part in a Shramdaan cleanliness drive at CGO Towers, Kavadiguda, on Thursday, joining the nationwide efforts under the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign to promote public participation in cleanliness.

The programme was organised under the theme “Swachhata Mein Sahbhag – Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat” as part of the nationwide “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” initiative. Officials and staff from the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Hyderabad, and the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) participated in the programme and carried out cleaning activities across the CGO Towers premises.

The participants undertook Shramdaan in and around the complex, clearing waste and cleaning the surrounding areas. The activity was aimed at improving the cleanliness of the premises while also conveying the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining public spaces.

The initiative also sought to create greater awareness about cleanliness among citizens. By involving government officials and employees in hands-on cleaning activities, the programme highlighted the importance of translating the message of cleanliness into regular action rather than limiting it to awareness campaigns.

Speaking on the occasion, Additional Director General Shruti Patil, IIS, emphasised the importance of people's participation in the Swachh Bharat Mission. She recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on public involvement in advancing the cleanliness movement across the country.

Shruti Patil said cleanliness should not be treated as an activity confined to a particular day. Instead, it should become a continuous responsibility and an integral part of everyday life. She urged officials and staff to incorporate cleanliness into their daily routines and contribute consistently towards keeping their surroundings clean.

The Shramdaan programme at CGO Towers was part of the broader Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign being observed nationwide. The campaign seeks to encourage people to participate directly in cleanliness-related activities and strengthen awareness about maintaining hygienic surroundings.

The programme reinforced the message that sustained cleanliness requires individual responsibility and collective participation. Regular efforts by citizens, institutions and government organisations can help create cleaner public spaces and support the wider objectives of Swachh Bharat and Viksit Bharat.
