Hyderabad is set to turn into a hub for fitness and health awareness on September 27, with the third edition of the Pink Power Run expected to draw more than 20,000 participants. The event seeks to combine the spirit of community fitness with a larger public campaign on breast cancer awareness, preventive healthcare and early detection.

The international half marathon and community fitness initiative is being jointly organised by the Sudha Reddy Foundation and the MEIL Foundation, associated with Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL). Organisers have announced a total prize purse of ₹75 lakh, with more than 100 winners expected to receive awards across the different race categories.

A major highlight of this year’s edition will be the introduction of an official 21.097-km half marathon for the first time. The race has received certification from the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), marking a significant addition to the event and giving the Hyderabad run an internationally recognised competitive format.

Participants will also have the option of taking part in 10-km, 5-km and 3-km runs, making the event accessible to both experienced runners and members of the wider community looking to participate in a fitness-focused initiative.

Sudha Reddy, founder of the Sudha Reddy Foundation and director of MEIL, said the Pink Power Run was designed to have an impact beyond the sporting arena. She underlined the importance of making fitness and preventive healthcare part of everyday life and encouraging people to identify health problems at an early stage.

Breast cancer awareness remains at the heart of the initiative, with the organisers seeking to use the large-scale event as a platform to encourage greater attention to screening and timely medical intervention.

Miss World 2025 Opal Suchata Chuangsri also stressed the importance of creating greater awareness about breast cancer. She said events such as the Pink Power Run can contribute to building a healthier society by motivating people to prioritise their well-being.

The event is expected to use participation in the run as a means of promoting long-term health awareness, encouraging people to embrace regular physical activity and take a more proactive approach to preventive healthcare.
