
Piyush Goyal Meets US Business Leaders, Seeks Greater Investment in India
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal met senior US business leaders in New York and discussed opportunities to deepen their investments and partnerships in India, with a focus on financial services, manufacturing and the consumer sector. Goyal held separate meetings with Jonathan Gray, President and COO of Blackstone, George Walker, Chairman and CEO of Neuberger Berman, and Stephane de La Faverie, President and CEO of The Estee Lauder Companies.
During his meeting with Gray, Goyal discussed opportunities to expand Blackstone's investment and partnership in India and explored avenues for greater collaboration across key sectors. The minister also met Walker and senior executives from Neuberger Berman, where discussions centred on strengthening investment linkages with India and expanding partnerships in financial and wealth management. Goyal said India's resilient macroeconomic fundamentals and deepening capital markets offer scale and long-term value creation for global institutional investors.
In his meeting with De La Faverie, Goyal discussed ways for Estee Lauder to further strengthen its presence in India through increased manufacturing and sourcing from India, besides leveraging the country's growing beauty and personal care market.
The meetings come amid efforts by the Indian government to attract greater foreign investment and strengthen economic and commercial ties with the United States. Goyal was in the US to participate in the G20 Trade Ministers' Meeting. During his visit, he also met business leaders in Chicago and addressed members of the Indian diaspora.
