
PM Modi, Google CEO Discuss AI Partnerships, India’s Growing Role in Global AI
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Sundar Pichai , CEO of Google and its parent company Alphabet Inc , on Wednesday to discuss India’s push for artificial intelligence development and potential collaborations with Indian startups and students.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the India AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam, which showcases India’s efforts to become a global AI hub. The summit, featuring over 600 high-potential startups and 13 country pavilions, highlights international collaboration in AI and innovation.
During their discussion, Modi and Pichai explored ways Google can engage with India’s talented students and professionals, strengthening partnerships that foster research, skill development, and technology adoption. The summit has attracted more than 20 heads of state, 60 ministers, and 500 global AI leaders, demonstrating India’s growing engagement with international leaders in shaping AI and technology initiatives worldwide.
“The discussion with Mr. Sundar Pichai focused on the work India is doing in AI and ways Google can collaborate with our talented students and professionals,” Modi wrote on X, reflecting the government’s focus on nurturing a thriving AI ecosystem through global partnerships.
