PM Modi Reviews ₹30,000 Crore Projects, Takes Stock of Digital Arrest Cases at PRAGATI Meet

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday reviewed six key infrastructure projects worth more than ₹30,000 crore across nine states and took stock of cyber-fraud cases, including incidents of “digital arrest”, at the 53rd PRAGATI meeting in New Delhi. The review brought infrastructure delivery, digital governance and agricultural technology together under a broader focus on faster implementation and better public outcomes.

Chairing the meeting at Seva Teerth, Modi reviewed projects spanning the Railway, Road and Power sectors, with emphasis on timelines, inter-agency coordination, resolving pending issues and expediting completion. He said delays have consequences beyond cost escalation because they also postpone benefits meant for citizens, businesses and the economy.

The Prime Minister asked ministries and states to view infrastructure projects as an integrated whole, rather than as isolated stretches or packages. Progress in individual components, he said, must ultimately lead to timely commissioning of the entire project. He called for an end-to-end approach, greater ownership and a proactive work culture to address bottlenecks before they affect completion.

Modi also called for examining common utility corridors during the planning stage of major transport and infrastructure projects wherever technically and economically feasible. At the same time, he stressed that speed must go hand in hand with uncompromising quality, urging implementing agencies to adopt modern technologies and strengthen supervision and quality assurance.

The meeting also reviewed AgriStack under the Digital Agriculture Mission. Modi called for greater use of Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies to extract more value from agricultural data. He stressed that data should support the entire value chain, from input planning to processing, enabling better targeting, informed interventions and data-driven decisions for farmers.

On cyber fraud and digital arrest scams, Modi stressed that prevention requires sustained training, awareness and education. He called for targeted campaigns for senior citizens, youth and other vulnerable groups to help them identify fraud techniques, warning signs and safe digital practices. He also sought regular capacity-building for personnel so emerging cyber-fraud methods can be detected and addressed swiftly.

The emphasis comes amid growing concern over sophisticated online scams in which criminals impersonate officials and use threats of arrest or legal action to manipulate victims. The government has increasingly focused on public awareness alongside institutional responses to cybercrime.

The 53rd PRAGATI review thus combined the government’s push for faster infrastructure execution, stronger digital safety and technology-driven agriculture. Modi later said the priorities remained better connectivity, higher growth, better public services and lesser delays.
