PM Modi To Launch Projects Worth Over ₹35,000 Crore In Gujarat And Maharashtra
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat and Maharashtra today, where he will launch, inaugurate and dedicate development projects worth more than ₹35,000 crore, with a major focus on rail connectivity, freight movement, highways and digital finance.
In Vadodara, Modi will dedicate three key sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) to the nation. The sections, covering 326 route kilometres, have been developed at a cost of more than ₹20,700 crore and include Sanand (North)-Makarpura, New Umbergaon-New Saphale and New Saphale-JNPT.
Their commissioning will provide direct connectivity to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority, facilitating faster movement of export-import cargo, reducing logistics costs and helping decongest Mumbai's railway network. With these sections becoming operational, the Dedicated Freight Corridor network will be fully operational across its entire length.
The Prime Minister will also flag off freight services from New Sanand (North), New Makarpura, New Umbergaon and New JNPT, besides a new passenger train between Vadodara and Tanda Road, benefiting people in Vadodara, Chhota Udepur and Alirajpur.
Modi will dedicate the Jobat-Tanda Road new rail line, connecting remote and tribal areas of Alirajpur with the national rail network. He will also lay the foundation stones for three railway projects spanning 329 km and costing over ₹9,700 crore.
Three National Highway projects worth around ₹1,780 crore will also be launched, including six-laning of NH-48 and additional bridges over the Tapi and Narmada. Two six-lane flyovers will be inaugurated to improve road safety and address identified black spots.
Gujarat government projects worth around ₹2,600 crore will also be launched or inaugurated, including a ring road, a 110 MW floating solar project at Kadana Dam, PMAY housing and a water-supply project.
In Mumbai, Modi will inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest 2026, being held from September 8 to 11. The seventh edition will focus on Agentic AI, tokenisation and quantum technologies, examining their potential to create trusted, connected and inclusive financial systems.
