Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a significant State Visit to Seychelles from June 27 to June 29 , underscoring the growing strategic and diplomatic partnership between the two Indian Ocean nations. During the visit, Modi will attend the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Seychelles’ National Day as the Guest of Honour and hold extensive discussions aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation.

The visit comes at the invitation of Seychelles President Patrick Herminie and marks another important chapter in the longstanding friendship between the two countries. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the trip is expected to reaffirm the strong and enduring ties that have connected India and Seychelles through shared history, culture, and people-to-people relations.

A notable feature of the celebrations will be the participation of an Indian Armed Forces contingent alongside two Indian Navy ships , highlighting the close defence and maritime partnership between the nations. Their presence is expected to symbolize the trust and cooperation that have become central pillars of India-Seychelles relations.

During his stay, Prime Minister Modi will hold bilateral talks with President Herminie to review the entire spectrum of cooperation, including areas such as security, development, trade, capacity building, maritime collaboration, and regional connectivity. The leaders are also expected to exchange views on pressing regional and international developments of mutual interest.

The visit carries particular significance as Seychelles occupies a strategic position in the Indian Ocean Region , an area that has become increasingly important for global trade routes and maritime security. India views Seychelles as a key maritime partner and an important stakeholder in its broader regional vision.

The MEA noted that Seychelles holds a special place in India's Vision MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions) , which emphasizes collective security, sustainable development, and stronger partnerships across the Global South.

Beyond official meetings, Prime Minister Modi is also scheduled to address the National Assembly of Seychelles and interact with members of the Indian diaspora , further strengthening the cultural and social bonds between the two countries.

This will be Modi’s first visit to Seychelles since 2015. As both nations seek to expand cooperation across multiple sectors, the visit is expected to inject fresh momentum into a relationship that has steadily evolved from traditional friendship into a robust strategic partnership in the Indian Ocean.
