POCSO Accused Allegedly Murders Six, Including Minor Girl, Wife and Two Children in Ranga Reddy
A horrifying chain of murders in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district has sparked widespread outrage after a man accused in a POCSO case allegedly killed six people, including the minor girl who had complained against him, her mother and grandmother, as well as his own wife and two young sons.
The incident occurred in Daivalaguda village of Shabad mandal and came to light on Saturday. According to Future City Police Commissioner Tarun Joshi , the accused, P. Rajkumar (35) , is suspected of carrying out the murders during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday before fleeing.
Police said Rajkumar first went to the residence of the minor girl in Shabad town, where he allegedly attacked and killed the girl’s mother and grandmother while they were asleep. He then reportedly took the girl in a car to a lake near Daivalaguda and fatally stabbed her.
Investigators said the accused later returned to his own house and allegedly murdered his wife and their two sons, aged four years and eighteen months . The bodies were discovered at the family home, located close to the lake where the girl’s body was found.
The accused had been booked in May this year under Sections 11 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for allegedly stalking and harassing the minor girl. Following the complaint, he reportedly left the village for some time before seeking anticipatory bail. Since the offences carried a punishment of less than seven years, he was granted bail on a personal bond. Police said he later appeared before investigators and attended counselling sessions.
Officials suspect Rajkumar had developed a deep grudge against the girl and her family after the case was registered. However, the motive behind the killings of his wife and children remains unclear.
According to police, the accused telephoned his father after the murders and allegedly confessed to the crimes, stating that he intended to take his own life. He then switched off his mobile phone and disappeared. His parents alerted the police, who recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination.
Commissioner Tarun Joshi said seven special teams have been formed to trace the accused. During preliminary inquiries, family members told investigators that Rajkumar had a gambling habit and was under financial stress due to debts. Police are examining whether these factors played any role in the killings.
The incident triggered protests in Shabad, with relatives of the victims and local residents demanding the accused’s immediate arrest and the strictest possible punishment. Police have registered two separate cases and continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding one of the most shocking crimes reported in the district in recent years.
