Ponguleti Reviews Edulapuram Civic Works, Focuses on Water and Drainage

Telangana Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy conducted an early-morning inspection in Edulapuram Municipality of Khammam district, reaffirming the state government's commitment to the municipality's comprehensive development. Accompanied by District Collector T.S. Divakar, the municipal chairperson and vice-chairperson, the minister visited Sai Ganesh Nagar and Indiramma Colony in Wards 22 and 23 to assess civic infrastructure and hear public grievances firsthand.

During the inspection, local residents highlighted several pressing concerns, including drinking water shortages, hazardous overhead electricity lines, and rainwater stagnation in low-lying areas during the monsoon. Responding immediately, the minister directed officials to resolve the issues on a war footing, stressing that public inconvenience should be addressed without delay.

He instructed the authorities to construct permanent drainage systems to prevent waterlogging, remove overgrown Thumma (Prosopis) trees obstructing public spaces, and strengthen the municipality's drinking water supply network. He also reviewed the progress of park development works and ordered officials to complete all ongoing projects by the end of this month so that residents can begin using the facilities at the earliest.

Emphasizing effective governance, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy asked officials to conduct regular field inspections and closely monitor the quality and timely execution of development works. He said the government's vision is to transform Edulapuram Municipality, which was formed after the merger of several gram panchayats, into the No. 1 model municipality in Telangana.

The minister further disclosed that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has sanctioned ₹100 crore for Edulapuram's development. He said the funding will help strengthen civic infrastructure, improve basic amenities, and accelerate urban development, ensuring residents receive better public services and an improved quality of life.
