Punjab Brings Grand Ramayana Production ‘Humare Ram’ to Cities Across State

The Punjab government has announced a statewide theatrical initiative featuring the acclaimed stage production "Humare Ram", with 41 performances planned across multiple cities to celebrate India's cultural and spiritual heritage while introducing younger audiences to the timeless values associated with Lord Ram.

Announcing the programme on Monday, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond said the production would help disseminate the message of Sanatan traditions through an engaging contemporary presentation. He added that the government respects every citizen's freedom to practise their faith while promoting India's rich civilisational legacy through cultural initiatives.

The announcement comes shortly after AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal remarked during a devotional event that the Bhagwant Mann government had undertaken significant initiatives linked to Sanatan Dharma, including large-scale evening bhajan programmes across Punjab.

According to the minister, "Humare Ram" has earned appreciation in India and abroad, particularly among younger audiences. Produced by Felicity Theatre, the Hindi stage spectacle combines immersive visuals, aerial performances and advanced stagecraft to present the Ramayana in a distinctive format.

The production stars Ashutosh Rana as Ravana and Rahul R Bhuchar as Lord Ram. Organisers will make comprehensive light and sound arrangements to ensure an immersive theatrical experience at every venue.

The tour will begin in Mohali on August 7 and 8, followed by performances in Bathinda, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana and Sangrur, among other locations, concluding with a total of 41 shows across the state.

Highlighting the production's unique storytelling, Sond said the narrative moves beyond conventional retellings of the Ramayana. It opens with Luv and Kush confronting Lord Ram after Sita's departure, unfolding through the celestial perspective of Lord Surya, offering audiences a fresh interpretation of the revered epic.

The minister said the initiative reflects the state's commitment to preserving India's cultural heritage while making traditional narratives accessible through innovative theatre for audiences across generations.
