
Punjab Completes SIR Training, Gears Up for Statewide Electoral Roll Revision
The Punjab Election Department has completed a comprehensive state-level training programme for officials involved in the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of electoral rolls, with the house-to-house enumeration exercise set to begin across the state on June 25 .
Addressing the valedictory session of the three-day training programme on Wednesday, Punjab Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anindita Mitra stressed that the accuracy of electoral rolls is vital for strengthening democratic values and ensuring free and fair elections.
According to an official statement, nearly 650 election officials and employees from all 117 Assembly constituencies across Punjab's 23 districts participated in the programme. The participants included Additional District Election Officers (ADEOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), Election Tehsildars, District Master Level Trainers (DMLTs), and technical personnel.
Mitra said the successful completion of the training has fully equipped the Election Department to undertake the Special Intensive Revision exercise across the state. She urged all stakeholders to implement the instructions of the Election Commission of India (ECI) with dedication and sincerity during the revision process.
The CEO also announced that training programmes for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) will be conducted in all districts from June 11 to June 24 to further strengthen preparations for the revision drive.
During the session, Mitra interacted with participants and addressed queries related to the implementation of SIR-2026. In addition, IT experts provided practical training on various digital modules to ensure the smooth and effective execution of the electoral roll revision exercise.
The Special Intensive Revision aims to update and verify electoral rolls through a statewide enumeration process, helping maintain the integrity and accuracy of voter records ahead of future elections.
